Ceph is an open-source storage platform whose architecture provides reliable and scalable data storage. Ceph is a Software Defined Storage (SDS) solution that delivers block, object, and file storage within a single system. Thanks to its independence from the hardware layer and numerous integrations (OpenStack, Proxmox, Kubernetes), Ceph is widely used among public and private cloud providers, research institutions, and commercial projects requiring large capacities. The training aims to prepare participants to deploy and administer Ceph clusters. During the course, participants will have access to a dedicated training environment for hands-on workshops.
What will you learn?
- Understand the architecture of Ceph clusters.
- Learn concepts such as Placement Group, RADOS object, CRUSH map, CRUSH rules and their relationships.
- Understand how communication between clients and the cluster works.
- Learn the fundamentals of deploying and using all three types of storage (block, file, object).
- Install a Ceph cluster (cephadm) and create and configure data pools.
- Integrate your Ceph cluster with OpenStack and run your own VMs.
Prerequisites
- We recommend that participants have practical experience working with Linux systems (systemd, bash, LVM, iptables). Basic knowledge of Ansible and Docker will also be useful during the training.
Who is this training for?
This training is intended for system administrators and cloud operators who want to learn how to deploy and manage Ceph clusters.
